I wanted to share with y’all Three Tips for Wearing Darker Lipstick today.  Fall and Winter are popular seasons to start wearing darker lip color. I like wearing a deeper lip color year round because it gives my face some life…especially when you have fair skin. As I’ve gotten older, blush and lipstick are an every day must, otherwise I look washed out. So, here are my three tips on how to rock darker lip color:

  1. Exfoliate your lips first. There is nothing worse than lips with flaky/dry skin with lipstick on top. I got this elf lip exfoliator at the drugstore. It’s kind of like gentle sand paper on a stick and you just rub it around for about 30 seconds and then wipe off.
  2. Line your lips before you apply lip color. This will define the shape of your lips and keep your lipstick edge smooth and straight. Lining your lips is also helpful if you have smaller lips and you want them to look bigger 🙂
  3. Using a lipstick with a built in gloss helps it go on more smoothly. I love a matte lip, but if you’re new too darker lips try a lipstick with a gloss. I LOVE this NARS velvet lip gloss pencil. I’m wearing the color Baroque and it is a major go to for me.

Don’t get overwhelmed with matching lip colors and lip liners. I only use three different lip liners. The one I used for this tutorial is here, in the color wine.  It’s been awhile since I did a makeup post, the last one I did here was back in March! I also love this cute dress from Zara, check it out here.

I am planning my blog content for the next 4 weeks and I would love to hear from y’all.  Do you have anything specific that you would like to see?  Just let me know!
