Don’t be frightened ladies, I am here to share with all of you why every woman should shave their face. I know what you’re thinking right now, if I shave my face will black hair grow back?!?! I am here to tell you NO, no it will not! That is an old wives tale. I have been shaving my face for years, and here are a list of reasons why you should do it too.
Your makeup will go on more smoothly.
You will be exfoliating your face each time you shave (I think this is the secret to men aging so well.)
Your skin will glow more and be smoother.
No more hair on your face glistening in the sun 😉
I finally convinced my fuzzy haired friend from college to shave her face and she was ecstatic with the results. Even my mother in law does it…so obviously it’s the way to go,haha. I usually shave about once a week if I can remember. Back in this post, I clearly had forgotten to shave before these images were shot and all the fuzz on my face is saying Merry Christmas.
I remember one time, a few weeks after I had my second baby, I was sitting on my front porch talking to my mother in law. She leaned over and said that I should start shaving my face because I had a ton of fuzz, hahaha. I informed her that I DO shave my face, but I’ve been a bit distracted, HA!
Don’t forget to shave your neck too! Whatever you do to your face, you must always do to your neck too. I’ll never forget that time I was with my sister in the car and I ripped a blondd hair out of her neck that was glowing in the sunlight, bahahaha. Trust me, you willow it!
One final tip when shaving your face, is use a men’s razor. I having been using men’s razors since I was in high school because they had more blades back then. I’m sure women’s razors have gotten better, but I’m not switching anytime soon. Plus, I use Barbasol shaving cream because it literally lasts FOREVER and it’s so cheap.
Go home and shave your face tonight and report back to me. -Jess
I’m in love with these Healthy Rainbow Roll Ups with Peanut Sauce for two reasons. 1.) They are delicious and 2.) They are so pretty! I wasn’t sure I was going to love the curry hummus that you spread inside the wrap, but it was actually super delicious. When you are eating healthy or just clean, it’s super important to play with the flavors to make your food more interesting. I found the yummiest coconut curry hummus at whole foods and will definitely be buying it just to dip my carrots in at home.
These healthy rainbow roll ups with peanut sauce are a definite crowd pleaser, I even made them for dinner once for me and my hubby. If you have a Vitamix, you can add the ingredients for the peanut dipping sauce to whip it up really fast. These are definitely going to be at the top of my recipe list to make for friends who are sick or just had a baby!
Happy Friday to my blog following tribe, I love you guys! Ok, so today I want to share with you how I styled my bookshelves. This was a project I struggled with for about 6 months until I told myself it was time to pull it together. Here are some tips on how to style bookshelves to achieve this look:
Pick a color theme. I chose airy and neutral so that automatically whittled down the accessories that I had to work with. When I went shopping I was looking for white and cream books and accessories.
Choose a balance of objects, books, art and frames. It will be a bit of a puzzle at first, but objects will be migrating from shelf to shelf until they land in the right spot.
If you have a bunch of mismatched picture frames, paint them all the same color and automatically everything is more cohesive.
If you don’t want to invest in a bunch of expensive coffee books, you can cheat a bit and turn the pages to face outward with books you already own so you can’t see the spines.
Remove the book jacket covers, because underneath are often prettier book spines.
Put items on the top shelf that you don’t need to access.
I placed baskets on the bottom shelf to hide toys! I’m always looking for ways to store those suckers 😉 Believe it or not, my 2 year old doesn’t take any of the frames and books off the shelves, thank you JESUS!

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! Today, I’m sharing two things with you 1.) The Quickest Way to a Man’s Heart and 2.) This delicious Apple Pie. A wise woman taught me growing up that the quickest way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. She landed her hubby on her delish fried chicken recipe and they are still married to this day. Seriously though, you don’t have to buy your sweetheart anything for vday, just do something for them to show that you care. I think this holiday exists for people who don’t do thoughtful things for their spouse or date throughout the year…so VDAY is a cue to say “Hey you, do something to show that you care!”
Now, back to my Apple Pie! This recipe comes from my great grandfathers french pie book. I tried to start a series about pie back in 2016, but I think I got a bit distracted with trying to lose my baby weight. I’m STILL trying to lose my baby weight, but life is for living…so EAT PIE! If you want to read that post about his recipe book, click here. I just clicked back to that post and wowzer, my hair has changed! This pie is SUPER EASY to make and requires ZERO baking skills. I used a store bought crust and then threw the ingredients in. Men love apple pie with ice cream, so whip this up and blow his socks off. The twist on this pie is the coconut topping, unexpected and delicious. Let me know how it goes, I wanna hear from those who make this yummy treat!
